Community clean up campaign
COMMUNITY CLEAN UP CAMPAIGN
Day after day, residents get in touch with me to raise concerns with the state of their local streets, parks and paths. This is often in the form of overgrown weeds, dog fouling and litter on our streets or fly-tipping.
I regularly speak to the Council’s street clean team (who regularly act when informed) and I regularly take part in local litter picks across Edinburgh and Musselburgh to help keep our communities clean.
But, more can be done. I’ve therefore launched a Community Clean Up campaign! I want to hear from you about the areas persistently hit by littering, fly-tipping or full of overgrown weeds.
If you notice litter in your green spaces, or overgrown weeds on your streets, please complete my form and I will take the necessary action to help.
Please see below how I can help with a range of issues, and submit your concerns using the form.
-
Firstly, you should raise any concern with the Council, or the landowner for private or unadopted roads.
If you continue to raise concerns and no action is taken, I can help in a number of ways.
1) I can write to the Council or landowner on your behalf to encourage action
2) I can request an onsite residents meeting to discuss the issue
3) If the issue relates to litter, I can arrange a community litter pick, invite local residents, and help to clean up the local area as a community
-
If you notice repeat fly-tipping or littering, please firstly report this to the local authority here. if you struggle to receive an initial response, please do contact me using the form below (or by email) and I can raise this on your behalf.
I can also arrange a community litter pick, with invites sent to local residents and schools, to help clean up the local area. Community litter picks are a fantastic and rewarding way to connect and support the local community, with picks taking pace right across the constituency.
