Fisherrow Sands downgraded to ‘poor’ for polution by SEPA

In June 2026, Fisherrow Sands was downgraded to ‘poor’ for pollution. I am deeply concerned by this as residents across Edinburgh East and Musselburgh should be free to enjoy our beaches without fear over the water quality. It is Government failure that for 3 years running, the water quality has not improved.

I have been working to hard to ensure that the Scottish Government monitor sewage overflows and improve the water quality.
